I have known Ronan, as a police officer, since his days at Durnford Ford Solicitors. A standing joke was that he was the last man to get a pay cheque from Graham Ford. Our paths then crossed many times during my police career. Then, I left the police and became a nurse. By a series of events and coincidences, I found myself working in Hastings Magistrates Course. Ronan was one of the first familiar faces I met there. I would continue to meet Ronan, most days, at the court. I was moved to Brighton Magistrates, so we would meet less, but I could rely on meeting Ronan on Saturdays and Bank Holidays, representing Hastings clients. I can say, with complete honesty that Ronan was always cheerful, smiling and a joy to meet. Always with something interesting to say. Proud of how he had spent his time of with his family. Enthusiastic about people, his clients work and life. Sometimes, you learn of somebody passing, and of course it's sad and you feel for their close friends and family, but it's does not touch you in the same way. This time, I was shocked and truly sad to hear the terribly sad news of Ronan leaving us. I don't know Ronan's family, but I know how much they meant to him and I share their sadness in their sudden and tragic loss.
